The Atlantic City Council passed an ordinance Wednesday allowing deer hunting within city limits.
Under the ordinance, the City Council has agreed to reimburse hunters for the cost of the state deer tag for taking their first doe within city limits.
Subsequent to taking an antlerless deer and having it verified, hunters will be given a permission slip allowing them to use their next any sex tag to take one buck within city limits.
The goal of the change is to entice hunters to actively assist the city in reducing the excessive number of deer within the city limits.
Hunting packets and applications are available at the Atlantic Police Department, (712) 243-3512.
