15 Council Bluffs businesses that have closed in the past 5 years
The past decade has seen several businesses come and go in Council Bluffs. Here's a list of 15 restaurants and stores that spent several years in town before closing 2015-2019:
Toys R Us

The Toys R Us was located at the Manawa Power Centre in Council Bluffs. The business closed in 2018.
Kmart

Kmart in Council Bluffs officially closed its doors in January 2019. The space left behind eventually became the location for Bomgaars.
Hallmark

Amy's Hallmark, located at 3825 Denmark Drive in the Metro Crossing Shopping Center, closed Sept. 7, 2019.
Sears Auto Center

The Sears Auto Center on Woodbury Avenue in Council Bluffs closed in 2017.
Payless ShoeSource

The Payless ShoeSource location in Council Bluffs at Lake Manawa Center Drive closed in 2019. Payless filed for bankrupcy in 2017.
Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday on 3150 24th Ave. closed in May 2019.
Perkins

Perkins Family Restaurant on 3250 South Expressway closed in 2019.
Bed Bath and Beyond

Bed Bath and Beyond at 3706 Metro Drive closed in 2019.
Stay Sweet, Nicola's Bakery

Stay Sweet, Nicola's Bakery closed its brick and mortar shop at 805 Main St., in Council Bluffs, at the end of July. Limited special items can still be ordered through Nicola's located in the Old Market in Omaha.
Uncle Buck’s Grill

Uncle Buck’s Grill, located inside Bass Pro Shops, 2901 Bass Pro Drive, closed in June this year.
Eat, Fit, Go

The Eat, Fit, Go closed its Council Bluffs location, 3808 Metro Drive, in November.
Dressbarn

Dress Barn at Metro Crossing closed in May.
Mad Ox Bakery

Mad Ox Bakery closed its retail space, 215 W Broadway, on June 29, 2019. The business transitioned to a home bakery. Customers can place orders to the home bakery by calling 712-309-8695 or emailing madoxbakery@gmail.com. Menu items can be found at madoxbakery.com.
Hancock Fabrics

Hancock Fabrics closed its Council Bluffs doors in 2016. The company closed all of its stores nationwide after filing bankruptcy that year.
Istanbul Gyro Baklava

Istanbul Gyro Baklava closed its location at the Mall of the Bluffs in November. Istanbul Gyro Baklava is now located at the Food Court Restaurant at 3428 S. 42 St., in Omaha.
