A bright yellow “STORE CLOSING” sign is now hanging above the Dillard’s Clearance entry at the Mall of the Bluffs, 1751 Madison Ave., for the public to see.

The store is reportedly closing Aug. 3.

As of Tuesday through June 30, everything in the store is 30% off, or 40% ladies and junior apparel, according to sign displays and a store associate.

After Aug. 3, the closest Dillard’s in the area will be found at Oak View Mall, 3030 Oak View Drive in Omaha.

The well-known department store sells women’s and men’s apparel, juniors, sleepwear, accessories, handbags, shoes and home items.

Dillard’s opened in the Mall of the Bluffs in November 1988 and became an anchor store that was built onto the existing mall space. At the time, the 105,000 square foot store was the second Dillard’s location in the metro area. It joined the mall’s only other two anchor stores: JC Penney and Target, both of which have been long closed at the mall. JC Penney moved to The Marketplace and Target opened a new location in Metro Crossing.

Although Dillard’s owns the space at Mall of the Bluffs, the reason for the store closing has not been announced yet. Attempts to reach officials with Dillard’s corporate offices were not returned.

Besides the Oak View store, Dillard’s previously had one other location in Omaha at Crossroads Mall, 7200 Dodge St. That location — the first in the metro — closed in 2008.
