The store sells sells overstocked products purchased from online retail suppliers, items that have been returned and did not have proper packaging to be resold, according to owner Ryan Wager.

Sioux City will be the home of the second It’s $5 store in Iowa toward the end of May.

Prior to opening the It’s $5 location in Iowa, owner Ryan Wager wrote and designed software for the business with partners who own and operate five It’s $5 stores in the Greater Kansas City area. Wager opened his own store at the Mall of the Bluffs in November of 2018.

It’s $5 sells overstocked products purchased from online retail suppliers, items that have been returned and did not have proper packaging to be resold, according to Wager.

As success in the area has proven the Mall of the Bluffs a “more permanent home for the store,” Wager and business partner Zach Dahlgren said they are excited to open another location in Sioux City.

“We’ve had great traction and success with the Council Bluffs store so we are excited to expand in the Sioux City market. We are continuing to look at more opportunities like that throughout Iowa,” Dahlgren said.

Throughout the week, the store is liquidated as the items-per-price value increases. On Saturdays and Sundays, items are $5 and restocked once per day. On Mondays, everything is two for $5. On Tuesdays, everything is three for $5. On Wednesday, items are four for $5. On Thursdays, items are five for $5 and Fridays, remaining items are 10 for $5.

A soft opening for the new location will be held May 18, at 9 a.m., at 4380 Sergeant Road in Sioux City, and the grand opening to be held the following Saturday at 9 a.m.

“It’s been wonderful hearing from our customers, the fact that they can get such great deals on items; they’ve been able to have more special birthdays and holidays because of it,” Dahlgren said.
