After almost a year of anticipation, Jimmy’s All American Malt Shop & Grill officially opened Monday.

Outside, the restaurant, 4105 S. 11th St., has red and white awnings with its logo on top of the building to give the feel of a burger shop from the 1950s and 1960s.

Adding to the nostalgia is a statue of Big Boy holding a burger to the left of the entrance.

In keeping with the 1950s-1960s motifs, the floor was checkered, lit below with additional fluorescent lights.

Scattered across the restaurant are different pieces from those decades as well.

Larger pieces include a jukebox playing music, Coca-Cola machines, a chicken and a horse. Other memorabilia from those decades also line the walls, including images of Disney shows, including Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland.

Additional images show Bonnie and Clyde, Marilyn Monroe and Superman, to name a few.

Menu choices include hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, chicken and more.

To the left is seating and a separate counter for ice cream, malts, floats, sundaes, cake, pie and more sweets.

To the right is additional seating.

The American-style restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday as well as Sunday. Friday and Saturday the restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight.
