The Visiting Nurse Association will offer some midsummer fun and information during its Family Fun & Safety Fair.

The annual event, sponsored by Promise Partners and the VNA, will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at the Lied Multipurpose Complex at Iowa School for the Deaf, 3501 Harry Langdon Blvd.

Parents are invited to gather information on safety while children meet a therapy dog, have their faces painted or are entertained by a clown.

Information will be available on lead, prescription medication, Tide pod and fireworks safety. In addition, guests can visit a safety house or talk to a dietician about healthy foods.

Participating organizations will include the Council Bluffs Fire Department, the YMCA, Council Bluffs Parks & Recreation, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Crossfit Council Bluffs, the Council Bluffs Police Department, Pottawattamie County Public Health, Family Inc., Food Bank for the Heartland, Iowa Legal Aid, Sanders Martial Arts, Iowa Western Community College, Hy-Vee, Mothers of Preschoolers, the VNA and the Council Bluffs Public Library.

Admission is free.
