Due to flooding at River's Edge Park, the 2019 River's Edge Taco Fest has been canceled.
The majority of the park is flooded, and the space is not expected to be dry and cleaned up in time for the event's planned Aug. 3 date.
“We spent the better part of the last three weeks trying to find a solution, including an alternative site or using a smaller portion of River’s Edge Park," said Taco Fest organizer Tim Young. "At the end of the day, we realized the experience for Taco Fest fans would not be the same, and that is our No. 1 goal."
Ticket sales and service fees will be refunded to customers. Restaurants, sponsors and vendors also will be refunded.
Organizers are planning another event for 2020.
The inaugural Taco Fest, in 2018, featured Sir Mix-a-Lot as well as lucha libre wrestling and food from 20 local taco restaurants. This year's event was set to feature alt-rock band Everclear as well as a cornhole tournament, chihuahua races and a dog beauty pageant.
