Cassie Davis, 17, is currently finishing up her senior year at Abraham Lincoln High School. She is a member of the school’s newspaper staff, “The Echoes,” where she is the feature editor.
In her spare time, Davis loves the opportunity to volunteer. On Saturdays, she can be found at the Henry Doorly Zoo where she educates the public about various animals. Two nights a week she’s volunteering at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, where she has been a teen volunteer for almost four years.
The Jennie Teen Volunteer Program is for students between the ages of 14 and 18. The program gives teens the unique opportunity to have direct patient contact in a healthcare setting.
Davis really enjoys getting to visit with patients and their families during her nightly rounds. Other responsibilities include escorting visitors throughout the hospital, staffing information desks, providing directions and assisting staff with special projects.
Once out of high school Davis plans to attend Clarkson College where she will pursue an Associate’s Degree in Science and Medical Imaging.
