Daine Naujokaitis

Diane Naujokaitis has been volunteering at CHI Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs for 23 years. She volunteers in the hospital’s gift shop.

“About 10 years ago I was the volunteer manager of the gift shop,” she said. “I left for about four months and missed the gift shop so much I came back as a clerk. I’m also the president of the Guild Volunteer Board. I have been on and off the board several times.

“While employed at the Federal Reserve Bank in the Human Relations Department, retirees would come to visit and tell of their experience volunteering. It sounded so fun, and I knew that was what I wanted to do after I retired. I gave myself six months then started volunteering and am still doing so 24 years later.

“I like volunteering at Mercy. The staff and volunteers are so pleasant, Naujokaitis said. “Management is very understanding and easy to work for. The environment is pleasant

“I enjoy working on most projects but especially the Spring Fling in April and the Christmas premier sale in November,” she said. “I get to help set up the tables with the merchandise and also help with the sales.”
