Isabella Jones is ready for track season as soon as the snow melts away.
Jones, 16, is a Las Vegas native who moved to Glenwood with her family during her sixth-grade year after her father got a job at Creighton University in Omaha. She attended Glenwood Community Schools through her sophomore year of high school before moving to Council Bluffs last year. She is currently a junior at St. Albert High School.
More than halfway through her first year as a Sainte, Jones said she has enjoyed her time at the school. She said that she likes the tight-knit atmosphere with her classmates and teachers.
Jones is active outside the classroom, participating in St. Albert’s cheerleading and track teams. She’s trading her pom poms for cleats as the winter sports season transitions into spring. She runs the short sprint events. The young runner bemoaned the cold, snowy winter and said she is ready for things to warm up so the team can start competing.
Looking ahead to college, Jones said she wants to study cancer nursing. Having a cousin who passed away after a battle with the disease, Jones was inspired to enter the field to help people going through similar experiences.
