Byron McDougle is a sterile processing tech II at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. His medical career started when he became a CNA in anticipation of taking care of his father.
Unfortunately, McDougle’s father passed away while he was earning his certification. Wanting to put his newly acquired skills to use, McDougle worked as a CNA at Brookstone Meadows before coming to Jennie five years ago.
He loves working at Jennie Edmundson making sure the instruments needed by the surgeons are sterile and correctly assembled. He acquired the skills needed to be a sterile processing tech “on the job” and received his certification last November.
Like so many Jennie employees, McDougle talked about the familial environment. He was humbled by the accolades bestowed on him when he received his certification noting that “even the president and CEO came down to congratulate me.”
McDougle takes a lot of pride in his work and ability to be a resource for his co-workers — “we’re a team.” McDougle is married and the proud father of two girls. He takes life in stride and is grateful for his good fortune.
