Daughters of the American Revolution
The Council Bluffs Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its next regular business meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The meeting will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 633 Willow Ave., in Council Bluffs. Mary Ann Ervin will be the hostess for this meeting.
During the regular business meeting, the group will install the new 2019-2021 chapter officers, as well as welcome and induct new members (those gaining membership since last June).
Members are asked to bring their calendars and potential program ideas for the upcoming year. There will also be a discussion on upcoming parades in which the chapter will be participating.
Following the meeting, Ervin will present the program, “The 75th Anniversary of D-Day.”
Members are encouraged to bring items they have collected for veterans’ and women’s shelters to this meeting. Items needed include gift cards, shave cream, razors, aftershave, combs, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, denture cream or powder, denture brushes, talc, socks, sweatshirts and sweatpants, etc.
All current or prospective member of DAR are invited to attend. The Council Bluffs chapter has members from western Iowa including Pottawattamie, Cass and Harrison Counties.

P.E.O. Chapter LP
Members of Chapter LP will usher in the summer by hosting a “Farewell to Spring” salad luncheon for chapter members, special guests, and prospective members at noon today at Eastside Christian Church, 331 W. Bennett Ave., in Council Bluffs.
The social gathering will introduce members to new friends, future members, and renew acquaintances of old. It will also serve as a fundraiser for the chapter with proceeds earmarked for college scholarships.
Co-hostesses Carolyn Forbes and Debra Ebke will welcome the guests, followed by an overview of the chapter’s mission statement and a description of upcoming programs, touching on special events on the fall calendar.
Chapter LP will hold its final meeting of the summer at 1 p.m. June 25 at the Primrose Retirement Community. Chapter president Monica Sciortino will present highlights of the recent Iowa State Convention in Des Moines. Co-hostesses for the day will be Carol Collins, Nancy Lougee and Carol Stotts.
