Courtney Killion, account representative for the Red Cross, said that blood donors are in high demand after the recent flooding led to more than 500 canceled appointments in the area. She said that each unit of blood donated can save up to three lives. "Our hospitals and our patients, they're still counting on that blood," she said. Area blood drive dates, as well as options for making appointments, can be found at redcrossblood.org. The next local drive will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 14.
