A Colfax man was arrested following a brief manhunt Thursday morning that began with a stolen truck at a highway construction site and ended with a foot chase near Abraham Lincoln High School.
Nathan Redman, 29, is currently being held at the Pottawattamie County Jail without bond on charges of theft, robbery and being a fugitive in violation of his probation. A court date has not been set.
According to Council Bluffs Police, the alleged victim exited his work truck at about 7:45 a.m. near Highway 6 and Interstate 80 near a construction site when Redman allegedly entered the truck and drove away.
Later, the truck was located in the parking lot of Kmart in the 2600 block of East Kanesville. As the owner of the truck tried to recover it, Redman allegedly fled the scene, striking the man with the truck, police said.
Witnesses followed Redman to the 1500 block of Indian Hills Drive when Redman fled on foot. Police, with assistance from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, set up a perimeter and began to search for Redman with a K-9 unit.
The K-9 tracked Redman to a residential area about a mile to the southwest and Redman was arrested near Arnold and Adrian Avenues.
