Southwest Iowa

The Iowa Military Veteran Band will perform for the first time in southwest Iowa at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Davies Amphitheater in Glenwood.

Admission to the performance is $5 for adults, $4 for kids or free with a Davies Amphitheater Gold Card.

Proceeds from the event will go to area disaster relief.

This is also their first concert of the year.

The band is comprised of roughly 50 veterans from World War II to present day, and represent different branches within the military.

The band perform songs to promote American composers like George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, John Phillip Sousa, Karl King, and Meredith Willson, according to their website.

The Iowa Military Veteran Band was organized in 1996 to perform in the Iowa World War II Memorial. Since then, the group has grown into more than 100 members.
