Goldie Jane (Rose) Drawbond, passsed away April 26, 2019, at her home in Albuquerque, N.M.
Goldie was born on July 28, 1947, to Fay Edward Rose and Nina Jennie (Stifle) Rose, in Council Bluffs. She received her high school diploma from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1965. After high school, she went to work for Mutual of Omaha as a file clerk in Omaha, Neb. While living and working there she met her future husband in the summer of 1967. Goldie Jane Rose married Loyd (Red) Drawbond on September 16, 1967, at her parents' home outside of Carson, Iowa. They lovingly raised their 2 daughters, Jennifer and Melody.
Goldie loved life and was passionate about many things. She loved her family with all of her might. She had a love of adventure and travel. She was determined to show the true meaning of fighting for worthwhile things, being stubborn and true to your beliefs, never giving in and never giving up. She was a tenaciously loyal person to her family and friends. She loved puppies, kittens, and babies with all her heart and treasured them all. She was a woman who loved all of God's creations but had a special place in her heart for butterflies, birds, dragon flies, cardinals, opossum, dogwood, cabins in the woods, family history, The New York Times Sunday crossword, gardening, history, mysteries, reading, Jeopardy, video games, and all of nature's beautiful gifts.
She loved to cook and create new delicious things to sustain her family. She loved to create new things by weaving, painting, and doing needlework. She enjoyed music, art, and dance. She loved passed to play the slots and go back packing and hated squash and sweet potatoes. But most of all, she loved life and family with every fiber of her being.
Goldie was preceded in death by her father, Fay; her mother, Nina; and brother, Gary Juan.
She is survived by her husband, Loyd; her 2 children, Jennifer Drawbond, of Alburqueque, N.M., and Melody Drawbond, of Ash Grove, Mo.; her sister, Garnett (Dan) Petersen of Elk Horn, Iowa; her brother, Eric (Penny) Rose, of Bellevue, Neb.; and an uncle, aunts, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Goldie was cremated and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
