John A. "Jake" Grimm
John A. "Jake" Grimm, age 93, of Council Bluffs, passed away June 20, 2019, at Country House.
Jake was born February 28, 1926, in Fillmore County, Minn., to the late John A. and Edna Mae (Bonnett) Grimm. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Jake married Betty Jane Larson and to this union 5 children were born. He worked for Janesville Auto Transport for 31 years, retiring in 1988. Jake and Betty spent their winters in Texas and later in Arizona while living in Janesville, Wis., and Council Bluffs. He was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Grimm on August 7, 2012; brothers, Willard Grimm and Foster "Curley" Grimm.
Jake is survived by his children, Larry (Linda) Grimm, Nancy (Steve) Mether, all of Council Bluffs, Penny (Larry) Thomas, of Lincoln, Neb., Susan Grimm, of Omaha, Neb., Steve (Phyllis) Grimm, of Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl "Sonny" (Bonnie) Grimm, of Osage, Iowa, Roger Grimm, of Kerns, Utah; sisters, Gladys Garrison, of Waterloo, Iowa, Ileen Mostek, of Osage, Helen (Virgil) Counsell, of Independence, Mo., Betty Lou Ward, of Osage; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Saint John Lutheran Church. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites tendered by the Kanesville Riders Honor Guard. A lunch will follow at Saint John Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Saint John Lutheran Church or VNA Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
