Thomas "Tom" Edward Brich
Thomas "Tom" Edward Brich, of Emporia, Kan., died, at his home, while surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, May 11, 2019. He was 77.
Tom was born August 4, 1941, in Neola, Iowa, to Edward John and Gladys Grace (Smith) Brich. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 21 and served most of his career as a cook. He married Katherine Clements on February 17, 1984, in Ft. Riley, Kan. After Tom's service in the military he worked for USD 383 Manhattan School District.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gladys Brich; sisters, Joan Janson and Charlotte Stephens; brothers, Robert Brich and Butch Brich.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Brich, of the home; son, Duane E. Brich, of Ottawa, Kan.; siblings, Marion (Dutch) Madden, of Council Bluffs, Margaret (Paul) Vorthmann, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Steve (Bobbi) Brich, of Galax, Va., Theresa (Bill) Berriman, of Mingo, Iowa, and Ginny (James) Kilts, of Johnstown, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Brenda Ulrich at 10 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2019, at Charter Funerals. Burial with military honors will follow at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
