Joseph C. Salvo Jr., age 66, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 6, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center, in Omaha, Neb.
Joe was born June 27, 1953, in Council Bluffs, to the late Joseph and Nadine (O'Hara) Salvo Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Joe was a cook at various restaurants in Omaha and Council Bluffs.
He is survived by his children, Heather (Hilario) Alaniz, Joseph Salvo III, all of Phoenix, Ariz., Amanda Brothers, of Omaha, Max (Dani) Smith, of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Gavin, Blake, Elijah and Blaine; siblings, Mark (friend Ellie Caughlan) Salvo, Bill (Grace) Salvo, Doug (Jennifer) Salvo, all of Council Bluffs, Debra Salvo, of Des Moines, Iowa, Carmella (John) Conner, of Council Bluffs, Denise (Gary) Cook, of Jackson, Mo., Mary Johnson, of Atlantic, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Military honors, Saturday, 2 p.m., tendered by the Kanesville Riders Honor Guard, followed by visitation with the family until 4 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. The family will direct memorial contributions.
David Allen, age 69, of Elkhorn, Neb., died on Monday, September 2, 2019, at Lakeside Hospital, in Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lois Allen.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Allen; and a daughter, Nikki Kimball, all of Elkhorn; grandchildren, James Osborn, Grace Osborn, William Osborn and Samuel Osborn; brother, Mitchell Allen, of Amarillo, Texas; and a sister, Christy Shultz, of St. Louis, Mo.
Private graveside services will be held at the Elkhorn Cemetery, in Elkhorn. A public visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Reichmuth Funeral Home, in Elkhorn. Memorials can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Glenn F. Lake, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away, at his home, on September 5, 2019.
Glenn was born January 24, 1931, in Council Bluffs, to the late Max and Marie (Erickson) Lake. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1949. Glenn married Viva Ellen Gilliland and to this union four daughters were born. Glenn was a machine operator at Kellogg's for 35 plus years. He was a member of First Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Viva E. Lake, in 2006; daughter, Glenda Dillon, in 2013; 3 brothers, Max, Richard and David Lake.
Glenn is survived his daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Salvo, of Council Bluffs, Janice (Daniel) Hackett, of Oakland, Iowa, Sharon (s.o., Merrill Slump) Salvo, of Macedonia, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lake, of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law, Elvin (Opal) Gilliland, of Gibbon, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Ruth Gilliland, of Ashland, Neb., Joyce Gilliland, of Omaha, Velma Esquivel, of Lincoln, Neb.; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Friday, 5 to 7 p.m., at Maher Funeral Home. Funeral service, Saturday, 10 a.m., at First Christian Church. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery, with a lunch following at First Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to Lewis Township Fire Department, PAWS or First Christian Church.
Kellee Jean Christiansen, 41, passed away on September 8, 2019.
She was born on August 29, 1978.
Survived by husband, Doug Deines; children, Rylee, Jaxten, Grace, Emmett and Faith; father, Larry Christiansen (Jean); mother, Pamela Christiansen; brothers, Larry Keith Christiansen (Michelle) and Shaun (Brittney); many other loving relatives.
Funeral service, Thursday, September 19th, at 1 p.m., at the West Center Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Marilyn J. Schroeder, age 87, passed away September 9, 2019.
She was born near McClelland, Iowa, on July 8, 1932, to the late Bruce J. and Mabel F. (Kerber) Chambers. Marilyn graduated from Treynor High School and retired from the American Red Cross. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor. She taught Sunday School and was part of their Wedded Band Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Schroeder; sister, Ethel Trede; brothers, Warren, Robert and Kenny Chambers.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mitch Welch; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Kathy Schroeder, Sr.; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Vivian Chambers; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., on Monday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Treynor, Iowa. Interment is in the church cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church Preschool or Bethany Heights.
Mary Ellen Lovell, age 83, of Nashville, Tenn., passed away August 30, 2019.
Mary Ellen (Mahoney), was born in Council Bluffs. She attended St. Francis School, and Radiology training, before working at the hospital in Harlan, Iowa, and The Cogley Clinic in Council Bluffs. Mary Ellen married Jerry Lovell, in 1960, and they were married for 57 years. She worked as an X-Ray technician for many years, was an active member of her church and member of numerous volunteer organizations.
Mary Ellen is survived by her son, David; her grandchildren, Ellie, Jack, Nathanial and Conroy; numerous nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of dear friends.
Recitation of the Rosary, Friday, 6 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Family and friends to meet at St. Joseph Cemetery for a graveside service and burial, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Monahan, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to an educational scholarship program.
