Missouri Valley

Flood waters creep up to a railroad line near Missouri Valley on Friday, March 15, 2019.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Disaster Recovery Centers in Harrison County will close permanently at 7 p.m. today.

The DRC is located at the Harrison County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building, 800 West Huron St., in Missouri Valley.

The closure does not mean that help for Iowa disaster survivors is going away. There are other DRCs still open in Iowa for a short time.

Survivors also can visit a Nebraska DRC. However, information specific to Iowa may not be available at those sites. To find DRC locations, go to www.fema.gov/DRC.

Survivors can still register with FEMA and/or continue to get help with their cases and other general information by calling FEMA’s Helpline at 1-800-621-3362. Multilingual operators are on duty. TTY users may call 800-462-7585. Lines are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time.

Be sure to notify FEMA if you change your mailing address, phone number or e-mail address, receive an insurance settlement, or discover additional damage.

If your house has been inaccessible and you have not yet had an inspector look at your damage, please notify FEMA that you need an additional inspection – again by calling 1-800-621-3362.

For assistance with low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) after the DRC closing, homeowners, renters and business owners can visit www.SBA.gov/disaster, call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. TTY users also may also call 800-877- 8339.
