Gerald Tighe, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away June 7, 2019, at Bethany Lutheran Home.
Gerald was born August 12, 1930, in Council Bluffs, to the late David and Elizabeth (McGinn) Tighe. Gerald proudly served his country in the Iowa Army National Guard from 1947 to 1949, when he entered the U.S. Air Force, on April 25, 1949. Gerald served until July 1, 1973, including 2 tours in Korea, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant special agent O.S.I, Office of Special Investigations USAF. He was a member of St. Peters Church, life member, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Coralie C. Tighe in 2011; siblings, Genevieve, Edward, David, James Patrick and Joseph.
He is survived by daughter, Suann Tighe Hosler, fiancé Dan Schroeder; sons, Frank (Nancy) Tighe, David (fiance Beth Weidenhof) Tighe; grandchildren, Bradley, Brian, Daniel, and Megan Tighe, Chesleigh , Schyler and Sydnee Hosler; sister, Elizabeth Tighe McCabe; brother, Walter (Sharon) Tighe; many niece's, nephews, great-grandchildren and cousins.
Rosary recitation, Friday, 6 p.m., followed by visitation, until 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, 10 a,m., at St. Peters Church. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard. Luncheon will follow, at the Walnut Hill Reception Center.
