The pitch was a special place for Council Bluffs boys soccer, as evidenced by the 2017 Daily Nonpareil All-City team.
Lewis Central leads with four selections. The Titans (15-3) were the mythical city champions. Junior midfielder Conner James (14 goals, five assists), a repeat selection, is joined by junior forward Antonio Ramos (12, 11), senior defender Austin Cline and sophomore goalie Cole Jensen (121 saves).
Abraham Lincoln (11-5-1) lands three on the team, led by two-time honoree junior center back Jacob Jensen (two, one). Sophomore midfielder Hunter Hendrix (13 goals) and senior midfielder Zander Day (seven, five) make their first appearance.
St. Albert (11-11) senior forward Rodrigo Barajas and junior defender Luke Waters, both first-team all-state selections by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association, made the team. Barajas makes his third appearance after leading the city with 31 goals. Waters (two goals, two assists) provided stability to the back line.
Thomas Jefferson (4-11-1) senior Ismael Camacho (30, one) is on the roster for a second straight year. Junior defender Terrell Morrison (three goals) makes his all-city debut.
The City Player of the Year will be revealed in Friday’s paper.
