In the future, when the subject turns to Council Bluffs football in 2018, most will likely remember the Titans.

Lewis Central finished 11-1 this fall and made its first appearance at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls in school history, reaching the Class 3-A semifinals before a 37-13 loss to Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Not surprisingly, L.C. dominates The Daily Nonpareil’s 2018 All-City Football Team with 12 of the 25 selections.

St. Albert (5-4) missed the postseason for the first time since 2014, losing 19-14 in the regular-season finale to eventual Class A state runner-up AHSTW. The Falcons join Thomas Jefferson (3-6) with five All-City honorees apiece.

Abraham Lincoln finished 1-8 and adds three All-City performers to the squad.

Two athletes become rare four-time All-City honorees: seniors Max Duggan of Lewis Central and Cameron Baker of Thomas Jefferson. Duggan will continue his career at TCU, while Baker will play at Northern Iowa.

Lewis Central seniors Josh Simmons and Drake Nettles are three-time All-City players, while three others are on the elite unit for a second straight year: Lewis Central junior Logan Jones and Thomas Jefferson seniors Cameron Lukavsky and Seneca Calhoun.

Lewis Central’s other All-City members are seniors Mike Gittins, Mason Lucy, Caleb Putnam and Dane Norville, along with juniors Trevor Griffin, Brady Miller, Brennan Kobes and Jake Lear.
