HARLAN – Atlantic’s Taylor McCreedy won the 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs and anchored the winning distance medley relay team to lead her team to the championship of Harlan’s Koos Relays on Thursday.

Abraham Lincoln finished third, Thomas Jefferson eighth and Lewis Central ninth. Darby Thomas of the Lynx won the 100 meters, the 100 hurdles and the long jump, as well as anchoring the winning 400 relay team.

Lewis Central had a double winner in Lauren Payne, who took the shot put and the discus.

Lo-Ma girls win Boyer Valley meet

DUNLAP – A pair of double winners and victories in four of the seven relays led Logan-Magnolia to the team title of the Boyer Valley invitational.

Olivia Diggins won the 100 and the 100 hurdles, and Taylor Sporrer took the 1,500 and the 3,000. Violet Lapke won the 400 and ran on a pair of winning relays.

Treynor boys take Big Red title

MISSOURI VALLEY – Treynor won four relays Thursday to take the championship of the Big Red Relays boys track and field meet.

Sid Schaaf and Jake Fisher of the Cardinals ran on all four winning relays (400, 800, sprint medley, shuttle hurdle).

Individually, Boyer Valley’s Tyler Brummer took the 100, the 110 hurdles, the 400 hurdles and the long jump. Duke Kyle of the Big Reds won the 200 and the 400.

Underwood boys, girls sweep

AVOCA – Underwood swept to prep track titles at the AHSTW Invitational Thursday, nipping the hosts by 10 points in the girls’ division and edging Denison-Schleswig by three points in the boys’ division.

Individually in the girls’ competition, AHSTW’s Talia Welsh won the 100 and 200 meters.

Among the boys, AHSTW’s Drake Partridge won the 100 and 200 and the long jump.

Boys Soccer

TREYNOR – Treynor fought back from a 1-0 halftime deficit for the win.

The Cards played “more physical and aggressive in the second half,” said Treynor coach Jason McIntosh. “We’ve got eight on the field who have not seen much varsity action, and they are learning how to play big-boy soccer.”

The defense is stepping up, McIntosh said, led by Jacob Keay and Noah McCombs and goalie Nate McCombs. Treynor has allowed only one goal in the last two matches. Keaton Mann scored twice and Quinn Navara once for the Cardinals.

Denison-Schleswig 4, St. Albert 0

DENISON – Depth made the difference for Denison-Schleswig in the Hawkeye Ten win, Falcons coach Tom Lorkovic said.

The host Monarchs led 1-0 at halftime on an own goal.

“They had the depth,” said St. Albert Coach Tom Lorkovic. “Twice, they substituted whole units.

“Our kids played hard, and they played better than (in the season opener) at Creston.”

Sophomore Connor Cerny and freshman Jonah Churchill earned Lorkovic’s praise.

Girls Soccer

Abraham Lincoln 1, Glenwood 0

Senior Taren Newman’s penalty kick in the first half was the difference for the Lynx.

“Last year we lost to Glenwood 1-0,” Abraham Lincoln coach Robbie Miller said. “This year we got a great team game.”

Freshman Mekara Kindred keyed an offense that got 13 shots on goal.

Miller said the team was frustrated at not getting more scores but said Kindred "led an attack that kept the pressure on.” In the center Newman and Paige Bracker smothered Glenwood, limiting the Rams to two shots.

St. Albert 8, Denison-Schleswig 0

DENISON – Class 1-A No. 11 St. Albert got hat tricks from Teagan Blackburn and Makenna Shepard in winning their second road game of the season.

Ellerie Tarbox added a pair of goals for the Saintes.

“The whole team played great. Everyone contributed,” St. Albert coach Chris Hughes said.

MISSOURI VALLEY – Missouri Valley defeated Logan-Magnolia 191-335 in Western Iowa Conference prep girls golf Tuesday. The Big Reds topped West Monona 180-215 in a nonconference prep boys match.

Madison Lease of Missouri Valley was the girls’ medalist with a 40. The Big Reds’ Nick Tennis was the boys’ medalist with a 35.
