SLOAN – Woodbine’s softball team won one of two games Saturday at the Westwood Classic, falling 10-7 to the host team and beating Trinity Christian 7-4.

Woodbine fell behind Westwood 9-0 before rallying, only to see the game ended by the time limit.

“Proud of our grit and coming back against a potential state qualifier,” Woodbine coach Greg Kolpin said.

Jayde Clark was 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, breaking the school single-season RBI record with her 30th of the year.

Amanda Heitman was 3 for 3, Amanda Foster 2 for 3 and Ana Vasquez 2 for 3 for the Tigers.

Heitman was the winning pitcher against Trinity Christian and hit a double.

Foster was 2 for 4, Clark was 2 for 3, Vasquez was 2 for 3 and Shannon Hopkins was 3 for 3 with an RBI for the Tigers, who face Class 1-A No. 11 West Harrison on Monday.

Late Friday

Treynor baseball 6, Missouri Valley 5

MISSOURI VALLEY – A three-run fourth inning allowed Class 2-A No. 4 Treynor to slip past the Big Reds.

Kristian Martens doubled for Treynor, and Drew Petersen went 2 for 2.

Missouri Valley’s Lane Harper was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Teammate Conner Lange went 3 for 5, and senior Ethan Langfelder was 2 for 4.

AHSTW baseball 14, IKM-Manning 1

AVOCA – Gabe Madsen was 2 for 2 with a double and a home run to lead AHSTW’s offensive outburst.

Joey Goins and Joey Cunningham added two hits each. Five AHSTW players scored twice: Brody Langer, Sam Porter, Blake Holst, Goins and Madsen.

Clayton Akers pitched a five-inning four-hitter for the win.

“We got back on the winning side of things by playing an all-around good game,” AHSTW coach Jason Holst said.
